Tommy Chong was born on May 24, 1938 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada as Thomas B. Unaware of the properties from which the van is constructed they make their way back having aquired a couple of female hitch-hikers whilst all the time avoiding the cops whom they are not even aware are following them. While the drug-ingesting duo is soon arrested for possession of marijuana, Anthony and Pedro get released on a technicality, allowing them to continue their many misadventures and ultimately compete in a rock band contest, where they perform the raucous tune Earache My Eye. A fortune teller Rae Dawn Chong tells them a story about revolutionary France. But Cheech and Chong fans will enjoy it. Cheech is able to keep some of his idiocy by making his character Mexican and dealing with societal differences.

Tommy Chong Tommy Chong, Actor: Up in Smoke. There hard core fan base wasn't enough to make themselves profitable. Not only did they change their style of humor, they toned it down dramatically. Funny but not as good as the first film. There are a couple of funny jokes but they are not enough. All in all, this is a great follow up to Up in Smoke and is quite watchable when sober or not. They live in a condemned building looking for ways to score more smoke and just lay about all day.

Anyway, instead of the marijuana which Cheech and Chong are supposed to have in their possession, they are said to have diamonds! Will Cheech get his freak on? How do they do it, you might ask? They are raised as peasants and find that they feel the other's pain. Meanwhile, Chong meets Cheech's cousin Red and the two have a wild time in Hollywood with a big bag of buds and a cool Ferrari. It would be a lot funny with the Los Guys traveling back in time and thereby becoming fish out of water. Sadly, no one wanted to see a period piece starring Cheech and Chong.

There are some classic scenes, which include the opening scene where they get some gas for their car and the drive to work. Along the way they meet everyone from Pee Wee Herman to really cool aliens. What kind of adventures will Chong and Red get into? How long will Chong go without some smoke? Tommy Chong takes over the directorial reigns for the sequel. Another notable scene is the welfare office scene with Jones human noise machine , from the Police Academy series, and the old laughing man. He has been married to Shelby Chong since 1975. The rating here is so low because some hipsters think it's cheap compared to Up In Smoke, I guess but trust me: this movie will bust your nuts. An unemployed pot-smoking slacker and amateur drummer, Anthony Stoner ditches his strict parents and hits the road, eventually meeting kindred spirit Pedro de Pacas. It is not as coherent or plausible as Up in Smoke but it still is incredibly funny, without becoming as strange as Nice Dreams.
Others will want to stay away from it. Firguring that he could kill two birds with one stone, Cheech pawns Chong off and Red. The lovable burn out smokers are now roommates. The movie is not horrible but it's not a laugh riot. Recommended for Cheech and Chong fans. I could go on and on about it but I'm just gonna keep writing until I get the minimum of five lines full for this review. They go in search of some dope and are accidentally deported to Mexico where in their desperation to get home they agree to drive a van back to the States so they can get back in time for a gig they are due to play.

Instead of collecting unemployment, they find themselves thrown back on the streets, searching for a way to earn new income. Still, the characters go around in a haze of marijuana smoke stoning others along their way with no explanation whatsoever! Chong is playing straight and mostly unfunny.
He has a job and a steady girlfriend. Well, they don't do it very well, that's for sure. This writing is simply not good enough. Also funny is Cheech's song Mexican-Americans and Chong's follow up song. . He was previously married to Maxine Sneed.
